If someone told you there was a 50%, perhaps even substantially higher, that your house or apartment was going to burn down what would you do? Perhaps, take out a little more insurance at the very least. However, if, after substantially more research, you concluded that the prognostication was, in fact, not only based on very solid science, would more insurance justify the risk to family, pets and all of the items you value? Perhaps not.
I believe, that after considerable research, not original of course, as my solar and geophysical science is more than a tad rusty, that the risks of continued extreme weather events around the world impacting all of us by causing food scarcities and regional starvation events in developing regions is 100%. The risk of a geomagnetic solar flare seriously damaging the North American power grid is hard for me to determine, but the experts believe that with the magnetosphere weakening at an accelerating pace, along with the clearly increased risk of a magnetic pole reversal, this risk is almost as certain.
All I can suggest is one take out appropriate insurance, even if it means simply storing a few weeks food and buying a solar-powered charger and battery for powering radios, cell phones (if they work), flashlights and even an old-fashioned paraffin lantern. Never, for one moment think your government will warn you about anything more than weather events.
I have previously warned of the effects of cosmic flux on the earth’s crust and inner iron/silica magma, there will be a very significant rise in earthquake risks in the known fault zones as well as volcanic risks. As a result of earthquake activity, obviously, the tsunami risks will also be high in sensitive coastal regions. Being aware of the signs, particularly when smaller quakes and large solar wind warnings are given.
There is an app for your cell phones, The Disaster Prediction App, which will send out alerts and watches geomagnetic, space weather and earthquake data. It’s worth having if you live in the risk zones.
I will be sending out what I think worthwhile informational videos and papers when appropriate. But, this is not a doom forecast, it is simply a warning that things are changing our earth, most of these changes even modest preparation can save a life. Hell, if the worst happens, well then, I see you on the other side!
What a Magnetic Reversal Means for Earth
Message to World Magnetic Model (WMM) Users
NOAA/NCEI – March 21, 2018
This is to inform users that the WMM Gridded Variation (GV) error has recently exceeded the performance specification in the Arctic region. Other geographic areas and other model parameters are not affected. The increased GV error may adversely affect compass navigation in those areas. We invite your feedback on potential impacts and whether an out-of-cycle WMM update would benefit your operations.
The WMM grid variation (GV) error, which is equivalent to declination error at latitudes above 55°N or below 55°S, is currently 1.5° root-mean-square (RMS) in the Northern polar cap. It is expected to cumulatively increase until it reaches 2.02° RMS by December 31, 2019 (end of current WMM period of validity). The GV error is largest in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago, Northern Greenland, parts of Northern Siberia, a large portion of Arctic Ocean and the Laptev Sea. The GV error is within specification in the Southern polar cap. Other areas are not affected. This performance degradation is caused by fast-changing core flows in the North polar region of the Earth’s outer core.
Geomagnetic field reversal substantially weakens the protection of the atmosphere.
Solar wind energizes more oxygen ions to escape when geomagnetic field is weakened.
Oxygen escape may explain the drop in atmospheric level during a mass extinction.
The causal relation between reversal and mass extinction should be “many-to-one”.
The simulated oxygen escape rate based on knowledge of Mars support our hypothesis.
