A popular Government without popular information, or the means of acquiring it, is but a Prologue to a Farce or a Tragedy; or, perhaps both. Knowledge will forever govern ignorance. And a people who mean to be their own Governors, must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives.
The problem is not just that Americans are astoundingly ignorant, it is that this has been the intended outcome of the educational elites since John Dewey’s Fabian Socialist educational foundations in the early 20th Century. A dumbed downed population becomes inherently more controllable, more prone to accepting the propaganda of the State, no matter how absurd and irrational the messaging. There can be no democracy without informed citizens. There can be no freedom without a people’s intelligent understanding of the environment around them and the reality of government and elite intentions.
Once a population has been effectively dumbed down into a lobotomized stupor, it would take generations to regain democratic civic engagement, at least that derived from the people and not that which is propagated and forced down our throats, gasping for beer and pizza.
If there is any hope for a paradigm shift from systemic, state induced stupidity it had better happen now, though the chances for a reversal on the path to our mental slavery is likely very low, very low indeed!
A few years ago, then-Secretary of Education Arne Duncan got into hot water when he indelicately suggested that opposition to Common Core was “coming from sort of white suburban moms who – all of a sudden – their child isn’t as brilliant as they thought they were, their schools aren’t quite as good as they thought they were. And that’s pretty scary.”
You have seen many clips of our astounding ignorance–this is a terrific addition not to be missed–unfortunately, anyone likely reading this is one of the few that are not yet living in the very real Sea of the Dumb and brainless.
