A nation is a large group of people with strong bonds of identity – an “imagined community,” a tribe on a grand scale. The nation may have a claim to statehood or self-rule, but it does not necessarily enjoy a state of its own. National identity is typically based on shared culture, religion, history, language or ethnicity, though disputes arise as to who is truly a member of the national community or even whether the “nation” exists at all (do you have to speak French to be Québécois? are Wales and Tibet nations?). Nations seem so compelling, so “real,” and so much a part of the political and cultural landscape, that people think they have lasted forever. In reality, they come into being and dissolve with changing historical circumstances – sometimes over a relatively short period of time, like Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia. Why, then, does national identity give rise to such extremely strong feelings? And why would so many be ready to “die for the nation” in time of war? Because of migration, most modern states include within their borders diverse communities that challenge the idea of national homogeneity and give rise to the community of citizenship, rather than membership in the nation. In the age of global transportation and communication, new identities arise to challenge the “nation,” but the pull of nationalism remains a powerful force to be reckoned with – and a glue that binds states together and helps many people (for better and for worse) make sense out of a confusing reality.–
We are truly at the gates of Hell. And the roads we take will now terminate whether we will live in the XXI century as nation state republics or subjugated, culled and dehumanized crop of slaves.
==TransEvolution: The Coming Age of Human Deconstruction (Estulin, Daniel)
In 1991, the Tavistock journal, Human Relations, reported on the world government project. The collapse of the Soviet Union had created great opportunities for world government and the end of the nation state, the report said. It proposed a reformation of the United Nations to hand over all operations to a network of hundreds of thousands of (centrally controlled) ‘non-governmental organisations’. These would operate across national borders and not be subject to any control by elected governments.
==The Biggest Secret: The book that will change the World (Icke, David)
Destroy the borders. Destroy a common heritage, a common language and any unifying unique national shared culture and belief system and what you have left is simply the State. The State is not going away, in fact it grows more pervasive, more coercive and all encompassing every year, if not every day. The State is an inherently coercive system designed and ruled by an elite for the empowerment and protection of the elite.
Without the common connections of an idealized civitas or a body of citizens with shared national mythologies, uniform rules of law, religion and language there is no nation. Without a nation, there is no resistance to the State. The change in the constitutional order—from nation state to transnational market state is almost complete —and whether that change will result in the triumph of states of consent or states of terror is yet to be finally determined, however, the likelihood of there being any consent except by those of the ruling power and wealth elites is virtually nil.
The unfortunate future will have only one unifying event; economic collapse, chaos and a shared supplication in a universal cry for freedom. Everything spewing forth like vomit from this government are lies and the actions those for deceit. All of that is happening is nothing more than the final power-play of the elites. It has been foretold over many years by those seeking the universal end to nation-states and the unobstructed rule by the egoistic crony transnational capitalist class, but few wanted to listen. What will remain is the State, a system based solely on coercive power and total control.
The Western world needs a new ideal. An ideal that combines dynamism and individual freedom with social harmony. Such an ideal is not Utopian. It can be achieved. The first thing that has to be done is to reduce the role of government. People need to regain control over their lives and the fruits of their labor. Without meddlesome rules and taxation people will create safe, liveable and sustainable communities. Why can’t people spend their own money as they wish and buy the insurance, health care and education they choose? What great disaster would befall us if that were to happen? Why should the State take people’s money through taxes and make those decisions for them? People must again be given the freedom to choose for themselves, to solve their problems as they see fit – individually or, probably more often, together. For without cooperation, order and prosperity are impossible. But cooperation can only really work on a voluntary basis, based on mutual consent.
==Beyond Democracy (Karel Beckman and Frank Karsten)
Despite claims the administration was caught off guard, the White House and four Cabinet departments predicted last year’s surge of at least 60,000 illegal juveniles over the U.S.-Mexico border and expect it to more than double to 127,000 this year, according to an internal document. A 24-page administration PowerPoint for congressional appropriators dated April 22, 2014 bluntly stated that border arrivals of “unaccompanied alien children” would rise “by nearly a factor of 10” in 2014 to 60,000 and jump to 127,000 “if these growth rates continue.” It is shown below.
Indications are that this year’s surge won’t meet that record number, but will be the second highest in recent history. The document and accompanying graphs, provided by congressional sources, also set a price tag of $2 billion “to accommodate” the juveniles, some members of the MS-13 crime gang, this year.
The briefing counters claims by top federal officials that they didn’t see the surge coming last year. President Obama called it an “urgent humanitarian situation” in seeking nearly $4 billion, and a top aide said it “was much larger than we anticipated.”
