US: Qatar To Buy Patriot Missiles in $11B Deal | Defense News ( Who rules America? Certainly not it’s citizens)

Qatar was the initial financing and support sponsor for the rebellion against Assad in Syria, which actually started long before the US or international media picked it up, and thus long before Assad’s removal became an American and NATO goal, at least publicly. Assad refused to allow the planned Qatari gas pipeline to travel through its borders into the coast of Turkey and on, ultimately, to Europe. Besides the fact that Qatar is sitting on massive natural gas reserves and Europe needs gas, the pipeline would have reduced the EU’s reliance on Russia for its gas. Russia backs Assad. Get the picture?

But, let us not also forget that the plan for the Middle East was well laid out in the Cheney/ CFR / Neo-con “The Project for the New American Century (PNAC)” documents, whose 1997 document of principles is being executed still, somewhat sloppily, though the end results seem right in-line so far. The rebels were always radical Islamist’s seeking to depose not just a dictator, but a non-Sunni, Alawite leader allied with Iran and the Shiites. One has to be totally insane to believe that the rebels (most Syrians would have called them terrorists), were fighting for Western democratic institutions and the American Way. (Perhaps, John McCain can be placed in this mental state?)

If you do not think that the economic and political interests of America and NATO nations were being served by this, may the tooth fairy dance upon your head in your blissful, ignorant slumber this evening. Russia has always been a target of American machinations, they still are and unfortunately, until we take the late President Eisenhower’s warnings to heart after 60 years of mind-numbing willful blindness and remove from power the War Lords of America and the financiers that rule them, it will likely always be. That is unless we destroy them economically or militarily, which is, of course, the game that is now afoot.

WASHINGTON — Qatar will buy US Patriot missiles for the first time in a major arms deal worth $11 billion, officials said Monday, as Washington awaits a decision by the Gulf state on a lucrative fighter jet contract.

The sale will provide Qatar with roughly 10 batteries for Patriot systems designed to knock out incoming missiles, as well as 24 Apache helicopters and 500 Javelin anti-tank missiles, the US officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told AFP.

Qatar was investing in missile defense systems to counter what it sees as the threat from Iran across the Gulf, as Tehran has built up its missile arsenal, officials said.

The weapons deal was the biggest for the United States in 2014 and came as Qatar weighs proposals in a fighter jet competition, with US aerospace firm Boeing vying against British BAE Systems and Dassault Aviation of France.

“It’s a good sign,” said a senior defense official, referring to the arms sale and the prospects for the fighter jet bidding.

“It’s a pretty significant step.”

Qatar’s minister of state for defense, Maj. Gen. Hamad bin Ali al-Attiyah, committed to the sale in a signing ceremony Monday in Washington after talks with his American counterpart, Chuck Hagel

Israel has long complained of Qatar’s alleged duplicity, accusing it of meddling, bankrolling Hamas in Gaza, exporting radical Islamic terrorism through its tight links to the Muslim Brotherhood and Al Nusra. And a German official recently suggested that Qatar may also play a role in funding Islamic State, the savage extremist group behind the beheading of U.S. journalist James Foley.

“You have to ask who is arming, who is financing ISIS troops? The key word there is Qatar – and how do we deal with these people and states politically?” German Development Minister Gerd Muller said last week.

In response, Qatari Foreign Minister Khalid bin Mohammed al-Attiyah unequivocally denied funding the Islamic State group.

Qatar’s role as US ally at odds with claims it sponsors terror

If the Middle East were one big room, Qatar would be the elephant, according to a growing number of regional experts who believe the oil rich emirate is propping up violent jihadists around the globe even as it poses as a U.S. ally and would-be broker of peace.
